ICYMI: Irwin Allen

In June last year, we noted the 99th birthday of the king of ’60s TV science fiction, Irwin Allen. And, as today marks twenty-five years since he died, we thought it was high tim for a re-run. After all: syndication is television’s immortality . . .

Irwin Allen was born in New York City on 12th June, 1916 – and 1960s television SF was set on a collision course with awesome!

From 1964 to 1970, Irwin Allen was TV science fiction. From the ‘space family Robinson’ high-camp of Lost in Space, via the era-spanning adventures of The Time Tunnel, to the oversized-prop-of-the-week in Land of the Giants, Irwin Allen had young boys and girls around the world glued to their TV sets for that week’s instalment of action and adventure.

Behold!
