Gateway Essentials: Judith Moffett

Judith Moffett began her career writing poetry before turning to SF with an ape-as-human tale, ‘Surviving’, for The Magazine of Fantasy and Science Fiction in June 1986. She gained immediate attention by winning the first Theodore Sturgeon Award in 1987 and her reputation was further enhanced with the publication of her first novel, Pennterra, in the same year. The following year she received the John W. Campbell Award for Best New Writer.
