Christmas reads: part two

Christmas is almost upon us! And while it’s cold indoors, it’s a perfect opportunity for a bit of reading. For me, that means cracking on with some of my most anticipated reads of 2013…

DEAD EVER AFTER by Charlaine Harris has to come first. It’s the conclusion to the utterly phenomenal Sookie Stackhouse series, and I’ll be honest, I can’t wait to find out what happens in the end. We revealed the cover on the blog earlier in the year, and if you want to make sure you stay up to date with all the latest then sign up to our newsletter!

NOS4R2 by Joe Hill. This is going to be a perfect Christmas ghost story, featuring the creepy Christmasland, a terrifying villain and a chase to save a young boy before it’s too late. Unsettling, disturbing, dark and Christmas themed, pre-order now if you like being scared of things that go bump in the night! And if you’re new to Joe Hill, you can always check out Neil Gaiman’s video about Horns and Heart-Shaped Box and take his word for it rather than mine.

And two debut authors . . .

THE FALCONER by Elizabeth May. Oh my word. Imagine Buffy in a corset, in Edinburgh, and you have an idea how fun, fighty and compelling this novel is. You’ll be hooked from the first word – especially if you’re a fan of Cassandra Clare, the Blue Bloods series, or of Nalini Singh! And if you’ve even been trapped at a social event feeling that all you want to do is kill everything and escape . . . well then you’re going to love the brilliant heroine Alieana Kameron. You can learn more about Elizabeth and The Falconer on her blog!

THE PATH OF ANGER by Antoine Rouaud. Fans of Trudi Canavan, of Brent Weeks, of Patrick Rothfuss, put your books down and pay attention! You are going to love this book (at least, I think you will ;)). An Empire has been overthrown. An Emperor has been murdered. A Republic has risen from the ashes . . . but the old grudges remain. As a historian examines the last days of the Empire, so an assassin begins to strike, systematically, from the shadows. There will be blood. There will be death. This is the path of anger . . .

I’ve got chills just thinking about it.

Merry Christmas!
