Allegiance of Honour: End of a Season – Nalini Singh

Allegiance of HonorCan it really be Monday again already? Not to worry, we have the perfect treat to chase any blues away. Welcome to day 8 of 10 of our 10th anniversary blog tour for Nalini Singh’s bestselling Psy-Changeling series – we hope you’ve all been enjoying it as much as we have (don’t forget to follow along with the hashtag #SlavetoSensation). Today we’re celebrating the publication of book 15 in the series, ALLEGIANCE OF HONOUR, and Nalini has given us an exclusive insight into what makes this particular book so fantastically unique.

And now from Nalini:

Allegiance of Honour is an unusual book because it doesn’t have a single central couple whose story we follow through the book. Instead, it has an ensemble cast.

Why did I decide to do this?

The Psy-Changeling series has a very strong story arc running through it (I call it the Silence arc). The previous book in the series, Shards of Hope brought that arc to an end, while opening up the next arc. It was both an ending and a beginning in many ways.

However, before we close out this season of the series and move on to season two, I wanted to go back and catch up with all the characters we’ve gotten to know in season one, see how their lives are going.

I also wanted to tie up small story threads that wouldn’t otherwise have been addressed within the series. I could’ve done that via novellas or short stories, but there was a high chance a lot of readers would miss out on reading those shorts, leaving them wondering over those questions forever.

So Allegiance of Honor is a labor of love, visiting with previous characters while catching glimpses of new characters who will play major roles in the next season of the series. Because of its unusual structure, it may not be a book for everyone, but I think if you’re a fan of the series, it is a book you should pick up—there are some powerfully poignant moments within, change and growth, new life and life passing on. It is a story of a world on the precipice of a new dawn.

That dawn breaks in the next book, as we dive fully into season two of the series. I am so looking forward to this new journey into the Psy-Changeling world. I hope you feel the same way.

Thanks Nalini! And here’s the stunning synopsis

The Psy-Changeling world has undergone a staggering transformation and now stands at a crossroads. The Trinity Accord promises a new era of cooperation between disparate races and groups. It is a beacon of hope held together by many hands: old enemies. New allies. Wary loners.

But a century of distrust and suspicion can’t be so easily forgotten and threatens to shatter Trinity from within at any moment. As rival members vie for dominance, chaos and evil gather in the shadows and a kidnapped woman’s cry for help washes up in San Francisco, while the Consortium turns its murderous gaze toward a child who is the embodiment of change, of love, of piercing hope: a child who is both Psy . . . and changeling.

To find the lost, protect the vulnerable and save Trinity no one can stand alone. This is a time of loyalty across divisions, of bonds woven into the heart and the soul, of heroes known and unknown standing back to back and holding the line. But is an allegiance of honour even possible with traitors lurking in their midst?

And we’ll just place these red-hot reviews here…

‘The fact that the 15th book in this long-running series will only make readers desperate for more is a testament to Singh’s genius for storytelling!’ – Romantic Times (Top Pick)

‘Singh once again delivers an epic delight with a large ensemble cast in the 15th Psy-Changeling paranormal, which wraps up several significant story threads . . . Romance, family, and loyalty are celebrated even as the dangers of a brave new world without war are explored.’ – Publishers Weekly (Starred Review)

‘There are threats, shadowy enemies, implied conspiracies, and a dangling romance that is tied up . . . A brilliantly plotted, action-packed, and completely satisfying celebration of the series.’ – Kirkus Reviews
