Barbara Dickson

Barbara Dickson was brought up in Dunfermline but soon moved to Edinburgh to follow her musical dream. Bruno Tonioli was born in Ferrara in northern Italy in 1955. He begun his professional career as a dancer and came to London as a leading member of the Paris-based company La Grande Eugene before joining the Lyndsay Kemp Company. He has worked extensively in film, theatre and TV - and also in music business, choreographing videos, stage shows and tours for many artists including Tina Turner, Sting, Elton John, the Rolling Stones, Freddy Mercury, Boy George and Duran Duran. His TV credits include Not the Nine O'Clock News, Absolutely Fabulous, French & Saunders, The Brit Awards, Top of the Pops and The Royal Variety Show. Since 2004, Bruno has been a judge on BBC1's smash show Strictly Come Dancing; since 2005 he has also been a judge on ABC's equally successful show Dancing With the Stars in the USA.

Carol Vorderman

Born in 1960, Carol grew up in North Wales with her sister, brother and her beloved mum, Jean. She went to the University of Cambridge at just seventeen. Since childhood, Carol has had a passion for everything mathematical and her skill with numbers secured her a role on Countdown in 1982, the show that cemented her position as one of the most successful and popular female presenters in British TV history. Awarded an MBE in 2000, she has now turned her attention to maths education. Carol lives in Bristol with her children.

27 year old Charlotte Crosby is the nation's sweetheart. She was the star of MTV's Geordie Shore and is a regular fixture in gossip columns and tabloid headlines, but is also loved by her fans for being funny and down to earth. Jack Welch

Jack Welch was born in 1935 in Peabody, Massachusetts, the son of a Boston & Maine train conductor. He joined the General Electric Co in 1960 and was CEO of the company from 1981 to 2001.

Jason Padgett

Jason Padgett had struggled as a student and has spent his professional life working at his father's shop, Planet Futon. Following a mugging outside a bar in 2002 he became agoraphobic and during that time at home he developed an unprecedented passion for learning. A chance encounter in a mall with a university physicist encouraged him to return to college where his genius is discovered, particularly his unique ability to hand draw mathematical fractals. He has Acquired Savant Syndrome and synesthesia and is believed to be unique.

Jim Obergefell

Jim Obergefell is the named plaintiff in the landmark civil rights case, Obergefell v. Hodges, which will decide whether gay couples have a constitutional right to marry in all 50 states. He was born and raised in Sandusky, Ohio. Along with his late husband, John Arthur, he travelled and collected art while holding a variety of corporate jobs in training and technology. He was heavily involved in local charities and historic preservation. Obergefell calls himself an "accidental activist."

Joan Woodcock

Joan Woodcock was born and brought up in Blackburn, Lancashire, to hard-pressed working class parents. Hospitalisation at the young age of four inspired her to become a nurse, and at 16 she started as a cadet nurse, before beginning formal nurse training two years later under the traditional matron system. Despite the strict discipline and harsh training regime, Joan qualified as a State Registered Nurse in 1971. Her career spanned 41 years, and included positions in hospital casualty departments, GP practices, the prison service, Marie Curie cancer care homes and in the Sexual Assault Forensic Examination Centre for Lancashire Police - as well as a brief moment of fame on national TV. Joan took early retirement in 2008 to spend more time with her family and her beloved pet spaniel Gino.
